On Monday, June 8, the ‘glamour boy’ division of the New York Sire Stakes, the three-year-old pacing colts, will be at Monticello Raceway. A total of 10 NYSS events will be on tap during the 14-dash card.

There will be four divisions of NYSS, four divisions of the Excelsior ‘A’ and two dashes of the Excelsior ‘B’ series. The NYSS events will each race for a purse of $30,450, while the Excelsior A purses are $15,000 and the B divisions will be contested for $6,000 apiece.

The first race, which is the first NYSS division, will showcase Ron Burke trainee Cartoon Daddy, a son of Art Major that has already won in 1:51:4 this year in a NYSS event at Tioga Downs. He has made three pari-mutuel starts this year. He put together an impressive two-year-old season in which he earned $282,523 and took a mark of 1:50:1 at the Red Mile. Matt Kakaley will handle the driving chores. Bet You, who is out of the great mare Armbro Amoretto, will start from Post 6 for trainer Jimmy Takter.

Race 5, the second division of the NYSS, highlights Lone Survivor and J Eagle Feature. Both were victorious last week at Buffalo in their respective divisions.

In the third division, K Ryan Bluechip (PP1) and K Rock (PP2) are pitted against each other. K Rock easily won his last NYSS race at Buffalo in 1:54. K Ryan Bluechip took his 1:50.3 lifetime mark in his last start for trainer/driver Joe Pavia Jr.

The final NYSS race has been carded as Race 13. My Spirit Soars will start from the rail for trainer Tom Fanning. The son of Bettors Delight has been in the money in all seven of his starts this year. He heads into the race fresh off a 1:50:4 win at Pocono Downs and a second-place finish in NYSS action at Tioga Downs.

Race 10, a division of the Excelsior A series, will be highlighted by the much-heralded White Bliss, a celebrity from birth due to him being a rare equine albino. The son of Art Major was purchased for $240,000 as a yearling. He is trained and driven by Swedish trotting specialist Ake Svanstedt.

The Excelsior A divisions are Races 3, 7, 10 and 14 and each race carries a purse of $15,000. The B divisions have been carded as Race 2 and 12 and have $6,000 purses.

Monticello will continue its Monday – Friday schedule with a 12:50 p.m. first post.
