Doug W. Brown Passes

Published: June 15, 2017 01:09 pm EDT

Standardbred racehorse owner Doug W. Brown, 75, of Oakwood, Ont. passed away Saturday morning (June 10) following a courageous battle with cancer.

Brown owned racehorses for many years, and the last few horses he owned were in partnership with Brad Rae.

Brown was operated on in Kingston, Ont. for a brain tumor, and went steadily down hill. He passed away while in Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, Ont.

Visitation and funeral took place at Mackay Funeral Home in Lindsay on Wednesday, June 14.

While Brown was in partnership with Rae, he came to the farm every day to clean stalls and help, and also groomed his horses on race nights at Kawartha Downs.

Brown had the greatest sense of humour, ‘dry humour,’ and will be sadly missed.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Doug W. Brown.
