Meridian Farms has announced via social media that its Artsplace stallion Ameripan Gigolo p,4,1:50s ($470,996) has passed away at the age of 20.

Ameripan Gigolo, who had relocated to the Haining Farm in Clive, Alta. in January of this year, was found deceased in his paddock yesterday morning (Monday, June 11) from natural causes.

From 83 lifetime starts, Ameripan Gigolo notched 10 wins, 11 second-place finishes and 13 thirds. He banked over $470,000 in his career and took his career mark of 1:50 over Woodbine Racetrack as a four-year-old. He won an elimination of the Metro Pace as a two-year-old, and was victorious in 1:52.4 in the Jug Preview over Scioto Downs at age three. Before heading to stand stud, Ameripan Gigolo was victorious at Western Fair Raceway at the Open level and regularly knocked heads with conditioned foes on the Woodbine Entertainment Group circuit.

When it came to the breeding shed, 158 of Ameripan Gigolo’s son and daughters started in pari-mutuel races and 135 of them found their way to the winner’s circle. Sixteen of those starters earned more than $100,000 in career earnings on the racetrack, while one, who is still racing, has earned in excess of $430,000 (Val America, $430,510).

Ameripan Gigolo was owned by Bill Andrew of Calgary, Alta.
