Mitchell Joins Woodbine Board

On Tuesday (June 12), the Woodbine Entertainment Group announced the appointment of Hugh Mitchell to its Board of Directors.

Mitchell is the President and CEO at Western Fair District in London, Ont.

Throughout his successful career, Mitchell has led the horse racing industry in various prominent roles, including as the Chairman of the Board of Harness Tracks of America (HTA) and as a member of the Ontario Racing Board of Directors.

In addition to his role as a current member of the Board of Governors at Fanshawe College where he was a past Vice-Chair, Mitchell is also a past President of Tourism London, as well as Director of both the London Chamber of Commerce and Canadian Association of Fairs and Exhibitions. Earlier in his career, Mitchell worked for Woodbine as the company’s Senior Vice President of Racing from 1998 to 2005.

The announcement was made at the post position draw for the 35th Pepsi North America Cup, which will take place on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Woodbine Mohawk Park and comes at a historic time in Woodbine’s history.
