Police have charged a Hamilton man in connection with illegally supplying drugs and medications to the horse racing industry

Members of the OPP's Ontario Racing Commission Investigations Unit of the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau supported by members of the Burlington OPP, Hamilton Police Service, and the Agriculture Investigations Unit of the Ministry of Natural Resources, executed four Search Warrants on May 3, 2011.
Police searched two vehicles, a residence, and a business known as "#1 Tack Shop" for evidence of illegal equine drug sales and manufacturing as regulated by the federal Food and Drugs Act. Police seized regulated equine drugs and substances, equine drug manufacturing equipment, computer equipment, and documents in connection with the investigation.
Alain Lamontagne, age 48, of Hamilton, Ontario is charged with three counts related to improper labelling and production of drugs under the Food and Drugs Act and operating a motor vehicle without a licence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
Mr. Lamontagne was released on a Promise to Appear with conditions including not attending at facilities where racehorses are stabled. He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice at 45 Main St., Hamilton on June 8, 2011.
The investigation continues.
