George Whitcroft Passes

Horseman George M. Whitcroft of Pompano Beach, Florida passed away at the Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home in Simcoe on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the age of 72

.

Whitcroft trained horses and raced at track across Ontario before competing in the U.S. at Pompano Park, Buffalo, Batavia, Freestate and Rosecroft Raceways. His last years in the horse business he shipped horses based out of Florida.

Beloved husband of Marion (nee Workman) for 54 years. Father of David (Robin) of Le Roy N.Y., Kathy Wills (late Ivan) of Waterford, Mark (Cheryl) of Saratoga Springs N.Y., Allan (Patti) of Webster N.Y., Debby Egan (Steve) of London, Dan of Dorchester, Ricky (Pat) of Brantford. Grandfather to 18 grandchildren and 1 great grand child. George will be missed by other relatives and friends.

At George’s request cremation has taken place with a private interment at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to the Ferris Funeral Home, 214 Norfolk St. S., Simcoe (519-426-1314).
