Confederation Cup Elims Drawn

Check Six (PP5, Yannick Gingras) heads into the first elim (Race 5) off of a sub-1:50 win at the Meadowlands Racetrack last weekend. The Ron Burke-trained son of Somebeachsomewhere went gate to wire on May 6 in his Graduate Series leg and nailed the wire one length the best in 1:49.3. The career winner of $1.2 million in purses has won 16 of his 35 career races and has only missed the board on nine occasions.

Check Six will face off against Dr J Hanover (PP1, Scott Zeron), Magnum J (PP2 Doug McNair), Mr Wiggle Pants (PP3, Doug McNair), Daylight Rush (PP4, Jonathan Drury) and Western Fame (PP6, Mark MacDonald).

Mach Three gelding Sintra (PP6, Jody Jamieson) is carrying a two-race win streak into the second elim. Sintra, trained by David Menary, powered to an open-length 1:49.1 win last weekend at the Meadowlands during his preliminary-leg division of the Graduate Series. The bay is owned by Brad Gray (of Dundas, Ont.), Michael Guerriero (Brampton, Ont.) and Menary Racing Inc. (Rockton, Ont.). Sintra has won 10 of his 21 starts and has only missed the board of three occasions. His six-length win in his Graduate prelim was clocked in a life’s best 1:49.1.

Sintra will square off against Stonebridge Beach (PP1, Stephane Pouliot), Roll Away Joe (PP2, Yannick Gingras), Easy Lover Hanover (PP3, Doug McNair), Seeley Man (PP4, TBA) and First Car (PP5, Phil Hudon).
