Standardbred Canada’s Return to Standardbred Horse Racing in Canada Blueprint has been released to Industry Stakeholders across the country to assist in the planning and preparation of resuming harness racing at racetracks across Canada.

Developed by a “Return To Racing” Task Force, appointed by SC’s Board, this Blueprint provides guidelines for all facets of the industry to consider in the preparation of the return to racing, including a first phase without spectators in attendance.

“As provinces begin to announce phase one to reopen businesses, it is critical that the racing industry have a plan to take forward to government so that racetracks can be included as one of the first businesses to reopen,” said Dan Gall, President & CEO of Standardbred Canada.

SC has shared this plan with the Federal Government’s Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, the Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency, provincial regulators, horse associations and racetracks across the country.

The blueprint is intended as a guideline and a resource for the jurisdictions to use according to their individual requirements. The stakeholders in each province will determine how they want to move forward and how they may use all or parts of this document to help them prepare for the resumption of harness racing.
