David MacPhail Passes

David W. MacPhail, a longtime Prince Edward Island horse owner, passed away suddenly at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Thursday, April 28. He was 75.

Mr. MacPhail owned numerous horses over his lifetime, such as Cinnamon Donut, Menu, Sexy, Woodmere Blackrose, Buddy Moko, and Woodmere Destiny. He was also the breeder of Travelling Boy ($136,024, 1:54F), the 2:00 winner Travelling Robbi and the 1:58 winner Jers Gazou. ‎

Mr. MacPhail is the beloved husband of Ferne (nee Vessey) and loving father of Colin (Helen) and Lorna (Maurice ) Tierney. Grand dad to Nicholas, Emma, Olivia, Leah, Elise (Mitch), Madison, (Tony), Paige and Tait and great-grandfather of Cruze. Brother of Audrey Godfrey, Blois (Edith), Ruth (Joe) Roggeveen, Verna Clow and Jean (Gary) Smith. Brother-in-law of Mary (Mickey) MacPhail, Wendy MacPhail, Gordon (Ethel) Vessey and Lowell (Mary Lou) Vessey. Predeceased by his parents Victor and Ethel (Ling) MacPhail, brothers Norman and Heath MacPhail, brothers-in-law Harold Godfrey and Bobby Clow.

Resting at MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel. Funeral Sunday from West River United Church, Cornwall at 1:30 p.m. Interment in Cornwall Cemetery. If so desired, memorials to Camp Gencheff or West River United Church would be appreciated.
