Orville Rursch Passes

Orville A. Rursch, 85, of Taylor Ridge, passed away on Tuesday (April 23), at UPH Trinity, Rock Island.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at Wheelan Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2019, at Edgington Evangelical Presbyterian Church, with additional visitation from 9 a.m. to service time at church. Burial will be in Edgington Cemetery. Followed by a luncheon and gathering of friends and family at church. Memorials may be left for Edgington Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Andalusia Fire Protection District or Rockridge FFA Alumni Scholarship.

Orville was born on March 20, 1934, in Edgington, the son of Addison and Edith (Johnston) Rursch. He married the former Nancy Lea McGinnis on June 26, 1955, in Joy Methodist Church.

Rursch had farmed all his adult life. Earlier he had been the owner of Rursch Trucking and had a Minneapolis Moline Implement dealership with his brothers.

He was a member of Edgington Evangelical Presbyterian Church, FFA Supporter, Andalusia Masonic Lodge 516, Farm Bureau, Harness Racing Association, ISOBA and USTA.

Orville enjoyed Standardbred horse racing, dinners out with family and coffee with friends at local coffee shops, and was an avid Rockridge High School Athletic Supporter.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Nancy; children, Debbie Tomlin, Edgington, Dave (Shay) Rursch, Reynolds; grandchildren, Matthew (Elisabeth) Tomlin, Brandon Tomlin, all of Taylor Ridge; great-grandchildren, Nataleigh, Addyson, Rayce Tomlin, Lance and Lucas Bagwell; brothers, Marvin (Denise) Rursch, Donald (JoAnn) Rursch, John Robert (Dorothy) Rursch; sister in law, Shirley Rursch; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Addison and Edith; brothers Duane Rursch, Clair S. Rursch and sister Lois and Nels Anderson.
