Saratoga Gaming and Raceway’s Racing Secretary, Don Hoover, has announced the inaugural Joe Gerrity, Jr. Memorial Open Pacing Series in honour of the raceway’s past Chairman of the Board
.
The series will be open to pacers aged three years of age and up. The legs of the series will be contested over the half-mile oval for four consecutive Saturdays starting on August 8.
Each leg will race for a guaranteed purse of $22,500 per division, culminating in an estimated $37,500 final on Saturday, September 5 and a $25,000 consolation.
Nominations close on July 31, 2009, with a $500 nomination fee required for each horse entered.
