Miami Valley Announces New Races

Published: April 17, 2017 03:53 pm EDT

Owners and trainers of good Ohio-sired older horses are invited to enter four special $25,000 Lucky Buckeye races at Miami Valley Raceway on Saturday, April 29.

There will be separate divisions for trotting mares, pacing mares, male trotters and male pacers. There are no nomination or starting fees required. If more horses enter any division than can be accommodated, the horses with the highest 2016-17 combined earnings will draw into the race. No more than two horses can be entered by any owner or trainer into any one division; and a minimum of six entrants is necessary to fill each race.

The entry box for Lucky Buckeye Night on Saturday, April 29 will close at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 25. Entries can be made via the USTA online entry platform beginning Friday afternoon, April 21, or can be called in to the Miami Valley Race Office at 513-934-7792.

In addition to the $100,000 Lucky Buckeye night for older Ohio-sired horses, Miami Valley will present the $200,000 Scarlet and Gray Invitationals — four $50,000 races restricted to Ohio-sired three-year-old trotters and pacers — on closing day, Monday, May 8. Hackett Memorial and first leg Ohio Sires Stakes winners will receive automatic invitations. Others interested in participating are welcome to contact race secretary Gregg Keidel to place their horse’s name on the consideration list.
