Hoosier Park Racing & Casino, now in its 22nd season of live harness racing, will host a social media luncheon for all participating drivers, trainers, and owners with hopes to raise awareness and engagement around this year’s live racing season that is set to begin on Friday, March 27.

With an estimated start time of 12:30 p.m., the luncheon will be held in Hoosier Park’s Homestretch Restaurant and will provide a comprehensive introduction to a range of leading social media sites and technologies to help generate visibility and buzz for a variety of events and purposes at the track. This year, the luncheon will feature key-note speaker Scott Wise.

Wise is the President and CEO of Pots & Pans Production, the parent management company for the multi-successful restaurants Scotty’s Brewhouse and Thr3e Wise Men Brewing Company, which are located throughout the state of Indiana. Using his “unfiltered” personality, Wise has blazed the trail for social media marketing and business building.

Allison Conte, Social Media and Publicity Manager for the United States Trotting Association, will also be speaking on the implementation of social media in the harness racing industry. Using a variety of online platforms, she will be demonstrating positive social media practices and basic tips for beginners.

“The world continues to push forward at warp speed and the use of social media has now become mainstream whether it involves breaking news or the way we communicate in general,” Hoosier Park’s Vice President and General Manager of Racing, Rick Moore noted. “Hoosier Park is committed to making harness racing a focal point of this on-line conversation.”

Utilizing the hash tag #PlayHP, Hoosier Park has asked all industry professionals to use social media as a way to reach both the serious and casual racing fan with information about the harness racing industry.

Racing fans will also have the ability to become part of the conversation like never before. Racing fans can ask questions, post comments and participate in the nightly production and promotions using social media. Hoosier Park broke ground with social media last season, driving substantial interest and awareness using the multiple social media platforms but is hoping to double its efforts in 2015 with the help of industry participants and racing fans.

Live harness racing at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino will follow a Friday, Saturday schedule the opening week, a Thursday, Friday, Saturday schedule the second week and then resume a Tuesday through Saturday schedule throughout the remainder of the meet. With a daily post time of 5:15 p.m. each night, the live racing season will be conducted through November 14, 2015.
