It is with heavy hearts that Dave Snowden, Donna Snowden and Brittany Snowden announce that their beloved mare, Queens Arms ($719,000), passed away on Sunday, February 23 at the age of 29.

Bred by Armstrong Brothers, Queens Arms was born on the Snowden Farm in Tyrone. Queens Arms was broke and trained by Bud Fritz and family. She was later trained by Joe Stutzman, Cal Campbell and family friend Barry Garrard, who helped give the Snowdens the thrill of watching their good mare win races at their home track, Kawartha Downs.

Queens Arms was a multiple Ontario Sires Stakes winner, Trillium winner, winner of a Canadian Breeders Championship, and, most notably, winner of the inaugural Classic Distaff series at the Meadowlands Racetrack in a world record time for the distance of one and one-eighth miles.

After Queens Arms’ on-track career ended, she returned home and raised eight foals, including Rockmeamastreos ($398,000), King Joe ($312,000) and Miss Machqueen ($181,000). Many of her offspring and their offspring remain with the Snowdens.

Queens Arms enjoyed many years with her ‘buddies’ before passing at her beloved farm.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the Snowdens for their loss.
