Standardbred owner, trainer and amateur driver Tom Eichas is this year’s winner of the Standardbred Retirement Foundation’s Prix d’Amerique trip.

When contacted about winning the trip, Eichas responded, “Wow, really? This is very exciting, I’ve never been to Europe and this is a wonderful opportunity to go and see European harness racing. I can’t wait.”

The trip includes an airfare voucher of up to $1,800, five days and four nights at a four-star hotel in Paris with city tours, an authentic three-course French cuisine dinner, tours of standardbred farms and training centres, a cocktail party at Vincennes and tickets for the famed Prix d’Amerique race.

The raffle serves as a fundraiser for the SRF, which helps feed and care for the more than 160 horses SRF is currently providing a safe haven for in hopes of finding homes. Monies taken in from the raffle will also help support the SRF's 2013 equine programs.

SRF is an organization solely dedicated to the standardbred breed, the only one of its kind providing full care for horses for life when adoption is not possible.

SRF would like to congratulate Tom Eichas, and thank everyone who participated in this exciting way to raise funds for harness racing’s horses in need.
