Pompano Added To TVG

A “trifecta” of excellent events highlight the Monday card at Pompano Park. TVG begins coverage at South Florida’s famed oval with expansive coverage on tap as the track moves closer to its prime mid-winter dates.

Director of Racing Brett Revington sees TVG as a great stepping stone for the track saying, “The TVG network is regarded as one of the very best in the industry and it’s an honour and privilege to be part of their excellence in covering the sport.

“We have excellent, competitive racing here and their coverage will help in ‘spreading the gospel’ about our racing product.”

Revington continued, “No pun intended...but we are ‘revved’ up about this new and exciting partnership.”

Proof of that comes in the form of five stakes events being contested on Monday night.

The FSBOA-sponsored Stallion Stakes sports $103,500 on the line in five separate divisions featuring Florida’s best two and three-year-olds.

In the $23,500 event for two-year-old trotting fillies, Livy M and Brandy will, once again, renew what has become an intense rivalry with each filly having beaten the other in two of their four lifetime starts.

In the $24,000 Stallion Stake for sophomore trotting colts and geldings, Showing Off had been the dominant factor...until Geronimo Fame came into the picture and pinned a four-length defeat on him in his last start.

A purse of $25,500 is on the line for the three-year-old trotting fillies with the undefeated Markie -- four-for-four this season -- looking to extend her current winning streak to eight going back to her 2013 championship season.

The $30,500 Stallion Stakes for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings features two divisions with Prairie Fortune and Railee Workable, renewing their newly formed rivalry in the first and RJs Iron Man looking to repeat his impressive win of last week in the second.

Finally, Pompano Park, in cooperation with the USTA’s Strategic Wagering Program, will offer a guaranteed $5,000 Pick 4 pool on tonight’s program.

That wager is further enhanced with a patron friendly 12% takeout.

Revington added that, "it’s important to include our patrons in improving our product here in South Florida, so I really like the fact that we are able to reduce the takeout on this wagering opportunity.”

Post time is 7:30 p.m.
