The 2016 Trot Magazine Fantasy Stable heads into the final month with front-runners reaping the rewards of a Breeders Crown bonus and Fall Four success.
Two of the stables have bankrolls exceeding $8 million to this point, with Craig Barss' Barss Racing taking command with just over a month to go. His stable is fronted by millionaires Southwind Frank, Wiggle It Jiggleit and Always B Miki but received a surge from the narrow victory posted by freshman pacing filly Someomensomewhere in the 2016 Breeders Crown.
Barss has a stable with a bankroll in excess of $8.285 million, leading Bas Crebas' Horse Racing Stable B.J.C by just $85,000. With many of the horses shut down for the season and major stakes now concluded, the title will likely be settled by trainer and driver earnings accrued over the next five weeks.
The Trot Magazine Fantasy Stable contest is based on total earnings of selected horses and five percent of the earnings of selected trainers and drivers between May 20 and December 31, 2016. For the purposes of the fantasy bankroll, the winners (horses only) of the 2016 Breeders Crown Finals will each receive a $200,000 contest bankroll bonus.
At the end of the year, the winner of the contest will receive entry into and travel to the 2017 World Harness Handicapping Championship, a prize valued at (approx) $1,300.
