Trot Insider has learned that longtime trainer/groom Douglas ‘Doug’ MacFarlane passed away peacefully during the morning hours of Tuesday, November 24.
MacFarlane, who put forth a brave fight with cancer, passed away at his residence in Windsor, Ont. His common-law wife, Maree-Kay, was at Doug's side at the time of his passing.
MacFarlane worked with legendary Canadian trainers Bob McIntosh and Keith Waples during his career.
MacFarlane was 63 at the time of his passing.
Visitation will take place Thursday, November 26 from 7-9 p.m. at Families First Funeral Home, which is located at 3260 Dougall Ave. in Windsor.
The funeral home will perform the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 27.
