Registration is now open for Equine Guelph’s course on "Fire & Emergency Preparedness" (December 6 – December 13).

This is one of the short courses on Equine Guelph’s Horse Portal featuring practical, flexible learning, and available to Standardbred Canada’s members with a 15 per cent partner discounted rate.

This course covers an overview of barn fire prevention including the top causes of barn fires and practical ways that horse owners can reduce these risks. Emergency preparedness will also be a focus including identifying potential emergency threats in your region and developing a disaster plan.

For those who have never taken an online course before, no prior online learning experience is required, and the course format is flexible with “24/7” access available.

This course will help you:

• Reduce the risk of fire from occurring on your farm by recognizing best management practices
• Conduct a self assessment of your farm and create your own safety plans
• Identify local resources
• Gain an understanding of what you should do in the event of a farm fire
• Identify disasters that you may face in your geographical region to create your own disaster plan

Equine Guelph has been a pioneer and global leader in online education for equine professionals since its inception in 2003. The Horse Portal was launched in 2017 and became a national success, partnering with 10 English-speaking provincial equestrian federations across Canada.
