The Fan Club would like to congratulate Allan Neal of Grand Bend, Ont. on winning last Wednesday’s Breeders Classic Online Handicapping Contest.

Neal scored 14 out of a possible 20 points to top the charts from all players. He selected the four stakes winners and the winningest post position (9). He has won a $50 Fan Club prize package for his efforts.

Neal, who grew up in Sudbury, watched his father’s Standardbreds in New Brunswick in the summers of the ‘60s and ‘70s when he was growing up. He ventured into horse ownership in the early ‘80s and returned to the business about a year ago. He currently owns eight horses with trainer Dave Dowling and two with trainer Mike Dowling.

One of Neal’s horses, which also happens to be his favourite, is Kennel Buddy, who scored his 11th win this season at The Raceway at Western Fair District this past Friday night. Trained by Dave Dowling, the win pushed the five-year-old gelded son of Ken Warkentin’s bankroll to $57,712 for his owner.

Neal is an operations supervisor of retail services at Fanshawe College in London, Ont. and is currently enrolled in three online equine courses at the University of Guelph and is working towards an Equine Diploma.
