Vesta Blue Chip Passes

Winbak Farm has announced that farm foundation broodmare Vesta Blue Chip has passed away at the age of 26.

“Vesta Blue Chip was a great mare that we were honoured to have in our broodmare band,” said Garrett Bell, General Manager. “She was a consistent producer of rich performers.”

Her prodigy includes (pictured above) 2004 Horse of the Year, Rainbow Blue, p, 2, 1:54.2; 3, 1:49.2s ($1,600,012). Rainbow Blue is the dam of Somwherovrarainbow, p, 2, 1:51.2s; 3, 1:51f; 1:48f ($1,344,856).

Vesta Blue Chip was also the dam of three additional winners of $100,000+ including, Westward Vision, p, 3, 1:54.1f; 1:49.2 ($279,328), Sports Chic, p, 2, 1:54.2f ($285,409), and War Front, p, 2, 1:54f; 3, 1:51.3f ($124,200). She produced 11 winners from 16 foals, with her offspring averaging $180,160 per starter.

At Winbak Farm, her bloodlines will continue on with the three daughters of Vesta Blue Chip in the broodmare band. One of the daughters, Feelinglikeastar, is the dam of 2018 standout, Zero Tolerance, p, 2, 1:51 -'18 ($392,891).

“We are extremely proud of Zero Tolerance’s achievements this season,” continued Bell. “She is a great example of the legacy Vesta Blue Chip will leave behind.”
