Trot Insider has learned that Standardbred Canada member and racehorse owner Robert Simard, the father of driver/trainer Richard Simard, passed away during the evening hours of Thursday, November 13 at the age of 78.
Robert, who was just days away from his 79th birthday, passed away at the Valleyfield Hospital in Valleyfield, Que.
He is survived by his brother, Serge; son, Richard (and his partner, Manon Gendron); and granddaughter, Krystel.
A private celebration of life has been planned.
Donations in memory of Robert can be made to the Parkinson Society of Canada or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
