A press release issued on Saturday (Jan. 25) by Blue Chip Farms announced a number of changes to the farm's management team.

The release is as follows.

Blue Chip Farms is pleased to announce several exciting changes to our Management Team to maintain and strengthen our industry-leading on farm care, customer service and equine development.

Dr. Herbert Burns will assume the title of Vice President, taking on day-to-day management responsibilities in addition to his longstanding commitment to our breeding and development programs. The combination of Dr. Burns’ intimate knowledge of Blue Chip technologies and operations combined with 20+ year mutually respected relationships with our staff has made him a key player in developing consistent and efficient processes.

Hector Cedeno has been promoted to Operations Manager. Hector has been with Blue Chip Farms for over twenty years, and has performed the duties of Farm Manager for the last eight years. His role will continue to be focused on running our top-level mare management program alongside Dr. Burns, and overseeing the day-to-day management of all horses and staff. In 2020, Hector will increase focus on Yearling Sales and Client Services. We are constantly amazed by Hector’s attention to detail and his acute knowledge of each and every horse on the farm. With Hector’s new role, we look forward to providing increased access to this information for all clients.

Alejandro Avila has been promoted to Farm Manager. For over 20 years, Alex’s unrivaled horsemanship has been invaluable to the team in the stud barn, yearling prep and all related areas. Alex’s ability to build an individual relationship with each horse on the farm has been replicated to produce strong relationships with the entire BCF staff as well. Alex will continue to work closely with Hector to further improve the efficiency and professionalism of the team.

We’re pleased to welcome Nahuel Agosti, who joined the team in 2019 and will become the Blue Chip Development Manager. An agricultural engineer and from the first family of Argentine Standardbred breeding and racing, Nahuel has already added tremendous value to optimizing our field maintenance and nutrition programs, making Blue Chip the best possible environment to raise a champion. His passion for yearling development and selection combined with an aptitude for training and racing will make him a valuable new asset to clients of Blue Chip Farms.

Jean Brown remains the General Manager here at Blue Chip Farm as she has for the last eight years. Jean's attention to detail, intimate understanding of all Blue Chip operations, pedigree and breeding, and detailed knowledge of Blue Chip’s client roster makes her the perfect primary point of contact for all client needs. She can continue to be reached at [email protected] or 845-895-3930x14

We are proud to share these exciting staff changes and updates with our friends, clients and colleagues. We’re confident that these changes will create an even more positive experience for our stakeholders and will help carry forward the first-class Blue Chip Farms reputation for many years to come.
