Trot Insider has learned that seven-year-old Art Major bay Art Professor p,4,1:47.4s ($584,624) has been retired and will now stand stud.

Art Professor (Art Major-Allamerican Toffee, by Western Hanover), a winner of 19 races and more than $584,000 in career purse earnings, will be standing at Camden Stud in the United Kingdom.

Art Professor’s mark of 1:47.4, which was taken over Mohawk Racetrack in 2011 at age four, makes the bay the fastest standardbred in Europe. Purchased this past Monday at the January Mixed Sale, Art Professor will join broodmares Classofonine and Belovedangel, whom Camden Stud purchased this past November at the Harrisburg Sale.

Art Professor was trained by Ben Wallace, Steve Elliott and Larry Remmen throughout his 65-race career. He compiled an overall record of 19-11-9 and took his 1:47.4 mark for Wallace and driver Jody Jamieson in an Open over the Campbellville, Ont. oval.
