USTA District 9 Meets

District 9 of the United States Trotting Association held its annual meeting on Saturday (January 20) at the Calumet Club in Augusta.

The meeting was called to order by Chair Marean at 2:30 p.m. with 28 members present.

Introductions of directors and recognition of dignitaries were made and also a thank-you to the host, the Maine Harness Horsemen’s Association.

Director Steve O'Toole conducted the discussion on the proposed rule changes and Marean tracked the votes and amendments that were made.

At the conclusion of the rule discussion, the chair gave updates of the goings on at the USTA and opened the meeting for discussion. The meeting was adjourned at 4:15 p.m.

RESULTS OF RULE PROPOSAL DISCUSSION:

2. Amend to read ‘eliminate metal head numbers. Keep requirement for head numbers.’

4. Amend to correct error and, add .05 per cent of alcohol. The current language says in the word blood in two places but what the rule is using to measure is a breath analyzer so the word blood should be deleted and reference to analyzer reading should replace it. Voted to approve.
