Pearl ‘PJ’ Johnson Passes

Pearl W. Johnson, ‘PJ,’ 74, the man, the legend, of Ray, Ohio, formerly of Lithopolis, passed away on Monday, January 8 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 30, 1943, in Columbus to the late Pearl H. and Lucille (Geddes) Johnson. He was a cowboy, a hunter, a husband and a father.

Johnson attended school in Canal Winchester and Carroll, and served in the U.S. Army. He was the owner of Columbus Electric Sales, Washington Court House Electric Sales, Mt. Vernon Electric Sales, Newark Electric Sales, Star Electric Sales, Johnson Stables, P bar J Ranch, and P bar J Outfitters.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Sandi; children, Pearl Kevin (Trinda), Kraig, Kurt (Kelly), Kristopher (Emma), Eddie (Tonya) Ogle, Brandi (Michael) Steele, and Dakota ‘Bear’; 17 grandchildren; siblings, Carolyn (Tim) Howard, James (Carol), Kathy (Susan), Marilyn (Doug) Toole, and Stephanie (Dan) Taylor; step-mother, Darlene; father- and mother-in-law, Ralph and Sandra Ogle; and nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit from 5-9 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 13) at the Dwayne R. Spence Funeral Home, 650 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester, where funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday (Jan. 15), with Pastor Kevin Westra officiating. Interment at Lithopolis Cemetery. Following the interment the family will receive friends at Lithopolis United Methodist Church.
