Officials with the Standardbred Breeders of Ontario Association have announced the details surrounding the organization’s annual awards banquet and annual general meeting, which will take place later this month.

The banquet will take place on Saturday, January 23 at the Holiday Inn Guelph Hotel and Conference Centre. The annual general meeting will be held at 5:00 p.m., followed by cocktails at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $50 each and can be reserved from Aimee Adams at [email protected] or by calling 519-833-2861.

Located at 601 Scottsdale Drive, the Holiday Inn Guelph Hotel and Conference Centre once again offers a well-appointed central location for this year’s event. The annual banquet showcases the accomplishments of the breeders of the outstanding Ontario Sires Stakes performers of 2015.

The evening will also recognize the achievements and contributions of some of the industry’s most dedicated individuals, including the recipients of the Lloyd Chisholm Achievement Award, Chris Van Bussel Memorial Award, as well as the Johnston Cup and Lampman Cup.

The accomplishments of Ontario’s outstanding pacing and trotting broodmares will also be recognized with the Masterfeeds Award.

Once again, an impressive line-up of Ontario’s leading stallions has been assembled for this year’s stallion auction. A full listing of stallions can be viewed online at standardbredbreeders.com. In addition, the ever-popular silent auction is sure to have something for everyone.

At this time, the directors and members of the SBOA would like to send their deepest sympathy to the owners, trainers, caretakers and breeders of the 43 horses that perished in the Classy Lane Training Centre barn fire on Monday, January 4. The SBOA encourages all those able to donate funds to the affected horsepeople to do so through the official GoFundMe page that has been set up by the Central Ontario Standardbred Association (COSA). Donations can also be mailed directly to COSA.
