Trites Wins Five At EPR

Todd Trites picked up a handful of wins this afternoon at Exhibition Park Raceway including one aboard Tobins Paradise in the Atlantic Sires Stakes action for three-year-old pacing fillies.

Trites notched his fifth win on the 14-race card with Tobins Paradise in one of the $13,560 ATSS "A" divisions. The post time favourite posted panels of :28.4, :58.4 and 1:29 before pulling away from the field by two and a half lengths for the win in 1:59.3.

Cruising Hillary (Marc Campbell) was second and Bodrop (Danny Romo) who broke at the wire was third.

The Bill Quigg Memorial Stake and the Lady Slipper Stake winner made her eighth trip to the winner's circle this year. Sifroi Melanson handles the training duties of the Western Paradise filly for the Ultimate Stable of Dieppe, N.B.

Southview Spring and driver Marc Campbell pulled off a 9-1 upset in the fastest "A" division for trainer Charles McGee and owners Elwood Lawton of Stratford, Arleen Harris of Cornwall, P.E.I. and Tyler Shea of Pointe-Claire, Que.

The Forces Of Life filly sat in the pocket as Shadowcross Arose (Todd Trites) posted the opening quarter in :28.3. For The Luv Abunny (Danny Romo) advanced on the outside from fifth to challenge the pacesetter through panels of :59.1 and 1:29, but could not clear the front end. Southview Spring took advantage of her pocket trip in the stretch, pacing home in :29.3 for the win in 1:58.4.

Shadowcross Arose stayed for second and Fundyanna (Stephen Trites) was third.

Southview Spring scored her fifth win of the season and third ATSS event boosting her lifetime earnings to $47,001.

In the $2,500 ATSS "B" division, Fern Hill Treasure (Stephen Trites) scored a two length victory in 2:02 for trainer and owner Gary Wright of Grafton, N.B.

Trites' other victories on the card were in rein to Noordinary Lady (2:04.4), Cushla Macree (2:01.2), Woodmere Quickpeek (1:59.4) and Dusty Lane Oscar (2:01.2). The Penniac, New Brunswick resident currently sports 1,331 lifetime wins and over $2 million in purse earnings.
