After failing to win his first seven starts of the season, Junior K has clearly regained his "mojo" in his last two starts for Hall-of-Fame horseman Keith Waples.

Fresh off a 1:54 score on June 22nd at Flamboro Downs, the four-year-old son of Astreos sped to a 1:52.3 triumph in this afternoon's $15,000 Preferred Pace at Kawartha Downs for driver Brad Rae.

The ridgling was parked past a :27.2 opening quarter before working his way to the engine. He strolled to the half in :57.1 before sprinting to the three-quarter pole in 1:24.4 while feeling pressure from The Bam Man (Gord Brown).

Junior K unleashed a :27.4 final frame to win by 3-3/4 lengths over The Bam Man, who held for second. King Joe (Aaron Byron) rode cover from second-over en route to rounding out the top three. Race favourite Admirals Express (Reg Gassien) was fourth best.

Shady Hill Racing Stable of Guelph, Ontario holds the papers on Junior K, who has picked up wins in 13 of his 25 lifetime starts. His bankroll climbed to $158,021 with the win.
