High Five For Amazing Maxine In 6K Series

Amazing Maxine extended her win streak to five when she scored in the first $4,800 division of the 6K Series at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Friday.

There were three tilts for pacers and two splits for trotters on the 15-race program.

The 6K Pacing Series is for fillies and mares that started in a $6,000 claimer or lower race at Rideau as of June 1, 2008. There is no claiming in the series.

Starting from Post 6, Amazing Maxine dropped into sixth for driver Jacques Beaudoin at the :28 opening quarter and became part of the outer flow at the :57 half. The six-year-old Apache Max mare was second-over from fifth, waiting to pounce on the leaders, as Southwind Miata (Sandy Jones) broke the third beam in 1:26.2.

With a final kick of :29, Amazing Maxine hit the wire first, winning by three quarters of a length in 1:56.2 – a new career mark. Marie Phil Bg (Guy Gagnon) was second while Jeri West (Gord Brown) finished third.

Jason Woodward trains Amazing Maxine for the partnership of Ross and Judy Brown. In 29 seasonal starts, the mare has collected six victories and earnings of $21,818.

Landfairmaggiejane made it two-for-two in the Series with a gate-to-wire mission in the second split. The five-year-old Presidential Ball mare posted a two-length decision in 1:56.4 for driver Guy Gagnon. Serge Cardinal conditions Landfairmaggiejane, who is eight-for 27 this year, banking $42,464, for owner Jean Guy Villeneuve.

Bio Link won her debut in the 6K Series for trainer/driver Guy Gagnon. The four-year-old Village Jiffy mare sat sixth to the three-quarters, where she was third-over, and exploded in the final panel to record a three-length triumph in 1:57. Ecuries Guy Gagnon Inc., Rene Nerbonne Jr. and Alain Despatie co-own Bio Link, who has 10 wins in 31 starts this year, with earnings of $37,682.

The 6K Trotting Series is for horses that started in a $6,000 claimer or lower race at Rideau as of June 1, 2008. There is no claiming in the series.

Dunmore TCB went down the road in the first division for driver Ted McDonald. The six-year-old Black River gelding turned back a number of outside challengers en route to a three and three-quarter length score in 2:00.4. Gary Mc Donald does the training of Dunmore TCB for owners Suzanne McDonald and Carl Bagnall. He is four-for-22 in 2008, banking $23,944.

Berto Coquette remained perfect in the Series with her second come-from-behind score in as many weeks. In control to John MacDonald, the five-year-old Shipps Speed mare swept three-wide around the final turn and trotted to a length and a quarter victory in 2:00. Jamie Johnston trains and co-owns Berto Coquette, who has 10 wins from 33 starts this year, earning $49,822, with Scott McArthur.
