Two-year-old pacing colts and geldings completed their OSS Grassroots regular season on Wednesday night at Flamboro Downs, with five $20,000 divisions taking place.

Windsong Fortune went a paid training mile in the first event. The son of Astreos – Briar Hill led at every call for driver Paul MacKenzie and was a driving away winner, scoring by an astonishing 11 lengths in 1:58. Trained by Shane Arsenault for owner Kellogg Racing Stables LL, Windsong Fortune has won two straight and has earnings of $31,642 in nine attempts.

Shortstacked improved his record to nine wins in 10 starts in the second split for the tandem of driver Jason Brewer and trainer Erv Miller. The Astreos – Lornakin colt brushed fifth-to-first in the second quarter and never looked back from there, posting a two-length triumph in 1:59.3. Perfect in three OSS Grassroots events for partners Erv Miller Stable Inc., Omer Miller and Nelson Herschberger, Shortstacked has a bankroll of $38,000.

Lucky Herb won his third consecutive OSS Grassroots event in as many tries when he took the third tilt. A son of Camluck – Coriander Hanover, he rushed fourth-to-first for driver Brad Forward before the half and never surrendered the lead, winning by a quarter-length in 1:59.1. The Bob McIntosh trainee, who is 3-2-0 in nine starts with earnings of $42,600, is co-owned by the Robert McIntosh Stables Inc., C S X Stables and Dave Boyle.

Ponder Seelster converted from second-over for driver Scott Coulter in the fourth division. Slipping into sixth at the start, the Modern Art – Parcel colt followed cover in the middle half en route to a two-length decision in 2:01.1. Trainer Jim Koelln co-owns Ponder Seelster with Terry Hamilton, and they have seen the colt go 2-1-1 in seven starts, banking $20,220.

The fifth and final event went to Mr Coolie, who played things cool from fifth in the early going for driver Doug McNair. The No Pan Intended – Armbro Vertical colt jumped into the outside flow and with a devastating final kick over a tiring track, he sprung to a four-length win in 2:02.1. Trainer Gregg McNair shares partnership on Mr Coolie with Ian Fleming. In eight starts, he is 3-1-1 with earnings of $36,650.

The top 16 freshmen in the standings will return next Friday to Flamboro Downs to compete in the Grassroots Semi-Finals.
