Dr. Norman Amos Passes

Dr. Norman Amos passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 15 at Stratford General Hospital with his family at his side. The resident of St. Marys was in his 86th year.

Beloved husband to M. Leona, loving father of Cathy and Rob and dear father-in-law of Lois Amos-Herter. Norman is also survived by 15 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Dear brother of Mabel Scholfield of St. Marys and sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a son Bryan Amos(1994) brothers and sisters Owen Amos, Grant Amos, Joe Amos, Gertrude Rosser, John Amos, Kathleen Rock, Margaret Grabowski and Ernest Amos.

Norm had the pleasure of owning many talented racehorses over the years including multiple O'Brien Award winner, Odies Fame (1:52 - $1,410,720).

She was voted Canada's Two-Year-Old Pacing Filly of the Year and Horse of the Year in 2008. She returned in 1999 to be named Canada's Three-Year-Old Pacing Filly of the Year.

Resting at the L. A. Ball Funeral Chapel, 7 Water St. N., St. Marys on Thursday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at St. Marys United Church (85 Church St. S., St. Marys) on Friday, July 18, 2008 at 11 a.m. Interment in Brinsley Cemetery.

In Norm's memory, donations to Shriners Hospitals for Children would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.


There will be a Masonic Service on Thursday evening at 6.30 p.m. under the auspices of the Granton Masonic Lodge # 483 at the Funeral Home.
