Cerdic Downey Passes

Horseman Cerdic Downey of Lower Coverdale, NB passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday, August 16, 2008. He was 81.

Downey will be deeply missed by his wife of 59 years, Gwen (Dunham), his six children and numerous grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Ralph, who passed in 1997.

Downey was employed at Swifts Canadian Co. Ltd, for 28 years. He was a member of the Heritage Horseman Assoc., of PEI, Standardbred Canada, United States Trotting Assoc., Albert Co. Liberal Assoc, Bridgedale Seniors Club, and Riverview Senior Bowling League.

Downey's main passions were racehorses family and friends. His humour and smart wit will be missed by all.

There will be no visitation prior to the Memorial service, which is to be held at St. Paul's United Church, Riverview, NB on Wednesday, August 20 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Shawn Reddin officiating. A reception and visitation will follow the service in the church hall. Private interment in River View Cemetery, Hopewell Cape.
