Brawn Seelster Takes Top Trot

The photo finish camera was called into play to separate a pair of trotting stalwarts in Sunday evening's feature race at Flamboro Downs, and when the photo sign was taken down it was Brawn Seelster's number placed on top in the $14,700 Preferred.

The six-year-old son of Berndt Hanover needed every inch of Canada's fastest half-mile oval to haul down the tempo-setter, Indiana Hall, who came up a nose short in the six-horse affair.

Indiana Hall, who sliced out fractions of :27.4, :58 and 1:27.1, staved off a stern first-over challenge from Starsel but he couldn't fend off Brawn Seelster, who rode that rival's cover. The winner used a :28.4 final quarter to pull off the narrow win over Indiana Hall. Locofoco N was third.

The victory was the 10th of the season and the 30th career tally for the gelding, who races for Rankin and partner Jeff Goreski of Richmond Hill, ON. Brawn Seelster boasts a $329,365 bankroll.
