If they handed out awards for half-mile iron horses, you could certainly put Brawn Seelster at the top of the list when it comes to picking out worthy candidates.

The six-year-old son of Berndt Hanover won for the seventh time in 19 starts on Tuesday evening, as he took home top prize in the $11,900 Preferred Trot at Grand River Raceway.

The gelding, who hangs his harness bag in the barn of Callie Rankin, has picked up half-mile wins in the top classes at Grand River Raceway, Western Fair Raceway, Hanover Raceway and Flamboro Downs in addition to chalking up a win over Kawartha Downs' five-eighths mile oval.

Fresh off his win in this year's Walker Memorial Invitational at Hanover Raceway, the 27-time winner used his patented off-the-pace kick to win tonight's feature at the Elora oval in a time of 1:56.4.

Owned by Rankin and partner Jeff Goreski, Brawn Seelster easily defeated T Js Mr Lavec (Trevor Henry) and third-place finisher Will He (Garrett Whelan). The victory bumped the gelding's bankroll to $294,065.
