Winning races at the Open level is something that Armbro Chronicle has mastered for trainer Kent Baker, who watched his start student add to his impressive resume in the Monday evening feature at Woodbine Racetrack.

With Mike Saftic at the lines, Armbro Chronicle sprinted off the gate and landed in the two-hole behind Digital Image who rolled the field to the quarter pole in :27.3.

Race favourite Misterizi popped off the rail from third as soon as the field hit the backstretch, and he cleared to the top shortly past the mid-way point in :56.1. He was pressed around the final turn by Armbro Chronicle, who angled off the rail and applied first-over pressure.

A little more than a length separated those two at the three-quarter station in 1:24.3, but Armbro Chronicle edged clear in the late stages thanks to a :28.4 final quarter. Misterizi was a length and a half back in second. Enny Youngman came on late to finish third.

Baker along with partners Cal Patterson, Wayne Smith and Randy Fielder have celebrated nine trips to victory lane this season with the veteran, who is now a 26-time winner in his $907,692 career.
