As the Leamington race meet, sponsored by the Lakeshore Horse Racing Association, continues to evolve, so does the condition of the racing surface.

Track superintendant Dan Wiper gets the credit for new banking of the turns and the overall safety and speed of the track.

For the second day in a row, a new track record was established when Sea Star ($3.40) and Alfie Carroll won the seventh race for trainer Joanne Pond in 1:57. This was the second win in back-to-back days for the son of No Pan Intended-Garden Gate Creme, and the fifth win in five starts this weekend for Pond, who trains the three-year-old gelding for Sea Spray Stables of Nanaimo, B.C.

Pond's other Sunday win came with her own pacer Twice As Bright ($17.10) in the 10th with Rob Sparling Jr. at the helm.

Tyler Borth was the driving star of the day with three winners, including Right Choice ($4.20) for trainer Rick Wade of Woodstock, who co-owns with Linda Grummett of Stratford; Hide The Cash ($12.10) for trainer/owner Ian Hyatt of Oil Springs; and Albergetty ($17.90) for trainer/owner Douglas Walters of Dorchester.

Racing continues next Saturday and Sunday with post time 1:20 p.m.
