'No Contest' At Rideau

The fifth race on Thursday at Rideau Carleton Raceway was ruled as a ‘No Contest’ by the AGCO Judges as a result of an accident that saw Saulsbrook C Horse fall and then return to its feet before going the opposite way of the racetrack.

The horse unseated driver Samuel Fillion and then proceeded to run into the infield. He wound up running into an infield pond before being apprehended in the water by trainer Mike Armstrong.

Both horse and trainer escaped the water in good order. Driver Samuel Fillion booked off his remaining drives, and according to track announcer John MacMillan the reinsman came out of it with a sore lower back and a sore hip.

Trainer Mandy Archer and driver Guy Gagnon had another productive day at the oval thanks to four trips to victory lane.

Ceaseless got things rolling with a 1:56.2 triumph for that duo in Race 2 and the came back to capture Race 6 with Four Finger Floyd in 1:54.1. They came right back in Race 7 to win with Getyourlicenseliam in 1:57 and later returned to take the checkered flag in Race 9 with Wisk Key K in 1:56.

Archer and Gagnon continue to lead their respective standings at Rideau Carleton Raceway.

Highlights from the entire program can be viewed in the latest edition of ‘Rideau in Ten’. You can view that video below:
