Speeding to a large lead approaching the final turn, Tobins Rebel maintained command and posted a track-record equaling 1:57 victory in the lone $18,100 “A” division of the Atlantic Sires Stakes (ATSS) for three-year-old pacing colts at Inverness Raceway on Sunday (Sept. 20).

Leaving from post 5, Tobins Rebel ripped to a four-length lead moving to the first quarter in :29.2 with Johnnie Jack giving chase from second. Tobins Rebel continued on an open lead by a :58.3 half and motored to three-quarters in 1:27.4 five lengths better than Johnnie Jack. However the field narrowed on Tobins Rebel into the stretch with Windemere Ryan closing quickest but settling for second, one-and-a-quarter lengths behind the winner. Johnnie Jack finished third but was disqualified to fourth for interference at the top of the stretch, placing Nothing To Prove third.

A Camystic gelding competing for owner Daniel Ross, Tobins Rebel won his ninth race from 11 starts this season and his 15th from 19 overall, earning $91,597. He paid $4.50 to win.

Barrieau also steered his pupil Red Dirt Star to a wire-to-wire victory in the second of two $10,000 ATSS “A” divisions for three-year-old pacing fillies. The daughter of Malcicious led under minimal challenge through fractions of :29, :59.1 and 1:29 in progress to a 1:58.3 win by one length over Saulsbrook Ocean. Daniel Ross owns the now eight-time winner with $43,748 earned who paid $5.20 to win.

Woodmere Skyroller romped in the first ATSS “A” split for three-year-old pacing fillies. Sent the odds-on choice, the Rollwithitharry filly coasted through early fractions of :28.4 and :58.1 before widening her lead. In front by four lengths to three-quarters in 1:27.2, Woodmere Skyroller coasted to the finish of a 1:56.4 mile 10-and-a-half lengths better than Elm Grove Ocean with Ms Moyse third. Kevin MacLean trains the $3.90 winner who has $72,264 banked and nine wins from 21 starts. Dale Spence sat in the sulky.

Rest Assured shot from the pocket into the final turn and wore down pacesetter Eastcoast Invader to win the lone $1,500 ATSS “B” division in 2:05.2. Eastcoast Incader set a clip of :32, 1:03.3 and 1:35.3 before driver Adam Merner angled Rest Assured from second to match strides with the leader into the stretch. The pacesetter soon gave way and Rest Assured strode to the finish while holding off Theycallmedude by three-quarter lengths. Ronnie Gass trains the Westwardho Hanover gelding for owners Marsha Knox and Kyla & Wade MacDonald. He paid $2.90 to win.

Anne With An E demolished her competition in the single $1,500 ATSS “B” division for three-year-old pacing fillies. The daughter of Westwardho Hanover strolled through fractions of :30.2, 1:01.2 and 1:33 before opening her lead in the stretch, hitting the finish 21-and-a-half lengths in front of Tesse Ryan as she galloped in second. Because of the break at the finish, Tesse Ryan was disqualified to third with It Took A Village placed second. George Rennison trains the $2.70 winner for owners Andrea Rennison, Ryder Matthews Rennison and Annette Matthews.
