Its Huw You Know Ignites Tote

A first-over grind proved no sweat for longest shot on the board Its Huw You Know as the seven-year-old Holiday Road gelding snagged the $11,500 Preferred 2 Trot at Flamboro Downs on Sunday, Sept. 15.

Elysium Lindy took the lead from Absolut Seelster past the quarter in :27.2 and endured pressure from Its Huw You Know through a :58.1 half and three-quarters in 1:27.4. Katch Kanna tracked cover from second over but fanned three wide nearing the final turn to match strides with Its Huw You Know. The Ashleigh Hensley trainee edged away from Katch Kanna through the stretch to win by a length in 1:57.1 while Whiskey Tax took third.

Co-owned by Ashleigh Hensley with driver Ed Hensley, Its Huw You Know won his fifth race from 30 starts this season and his 24th from 153 overall, earning $326,530. He paid $57.40 to win.

P L Jackson popped pocket to best race-favourite Pro Beach by a nose in the $11,500 Preferred 2 Pace.

Driver Travis Cullen secured second while Pro Beach set a tempo of :27, :56 and 1:24. Fashiononthebeach mounted a first-over bid heading to the half and ranged to the leader’s wheel passing three-quarters but faltered rounding the final turn and stymied the outer flow. P L Jackson then had room to vacate the pocket entering the stretch and drew towards the pacesetter to eventually nail him on the wire in a 1:52.1 mile. Mr Mach Jimmy, stalking the top two, finished third.

A six-year-old son of Mach Three, P L Jackson competes for owner-trainer Jodie Cullen, who collected four wins on the program. He won his fourth race from 20 starts this season and his 18th from 95 overall, earning $249,903. He paid $11.50 to win.

Jodie Cullen’s second win on the night came from a wire-to-wire performance by Big Mach N in the $8,500 Preferred 3 Pace. The six-year-old Mach Three gelding grabbed command from post six and led Lets Wait And See through fractions of :28, :57.3 and 1:25.4. He faced little challenge through the remainder of the mile, widening to a two-and-a-quarter length lead while in progress to a 1:54 mile. Lets Wait And See finished second while Blue Moose finished third.

Owned by driver Travis Cullen, Big Mach N won his third race from 10 starts this season and his 12th from 52 overall, earning $70,261. He paid $3.90 to win.

Cullen completed her four-win night with victories from Gold Star Diablo ($2.90), who won in near-wire-to-wire fashion in a $5,200 claiming pace, and Outlaw Gunpowder ($3.60), who won in wire-to-wire fashion in a $4,700 conditioned claiming pace.

Dia Monde capped the card delivering as the odds-on favourite in the $8,500 Preferred 3 Trot. The six-year-old Deweycheatumnhowe gelding set a clip of :29, :58.3 and 1:27.4 while only enduring first-over pressure nearing three-quarters from Dominum Deo. Dia Monde strolled to a two-and-a-quarter length win in 1:57.2 over pocket-sitter Honor Above All with Dominum Deo settling for third.

Owned by June Durand, trainer Thomas Durand and Allan Smith, Dia Monde won in his seasonal debut while collecting his 10th victory from 50 starts, earning $424,131. Scott Young drove the $3.40 winner.
