Bella Palazzo failed to hit the board when she was sent off as the favourite against Preferred 3 trotters at Georgian Downs in late August, but in Monday’s follow-up performance at Grand River Raceway she was solid gold.

Sent off as the 6-5 choice, Bella Palazzo went to the front in the $7,500 Preferred 3 for trotters and didn’t look back en route to an easy score.

Bob McClure hammered out panels of :29.3, :59.4 and 1:29 with the Mike Weller trainee before kicking home in :29.2 to win by 2-1/2 lengths over Eagle Scout in 1:58.2 Round out the Trifecta ticket was Dominum Deo.

It was the seventh win of the season – and the 28th to date – for the career winner of $188,934. The six-year-old daughter of Tom Ridge-Bellissimo is owned by Pod Stable LLC of Seven Hills, OH.
