‘Zetlan’ Rewards His Clinton Backers

Zetlan Rocket produced the largest win payout of Clinton Raceway’s Sunday, August 6 program, as the five-year-old son of Blissfull Hall went to lead early, did all the work on the engine and hit the wire first. The result was a $40.50 win mutuel for those that opted to back him at the windows.

Zetlan Rocket, who is trained by Jayne Walker, was steered by Bruce Richardson on Sunday.

The complexion of the race changed right off the starting gate, as there were breakers and was interference. The early proceedings took half of the eight-horse field out of contention.

Richardson had his gelding up on the point and they sliced the fractions in :30, :59.3 and 1:29. The pair capped things off with a 30-second final quarter. The margin of victory was one and a quarter lengths.

Flames Camni Boy (Thomas Smith) finished second and Kid Galahad N (Natasha Day) was third.

Walker co-owns Zetlan Rocket along with fellow Holland Centre, Ont. resident Robert Walker. The victory was the first of Zetland Rocket’s 2017 campaign.
