Racing ‘Tweet’ Delays Star’s Plea Deal

It has been reported that a plea deal for a Hollywood celebrity was delayed last week due to a ‘disturbing’ tweet from a horse racing organization.

According to an article on ctvnews.ca, a lawyer for 1970s heartthrob David Cassidy was supposed to accept a plea deal on behalf of Cassidy in a court in New York State on Wednesday, July 30.

Cassidy, 64, was accepting the deal after an agreement was reached with prosecutors in regard to a driving-while-intoxicated charge against Cassidy in the town of Schodack from last summer.

It had been agreed that a lawyer represent Cassidy in the hearing because he lives in Florida.

The Wednesday court hearing was halted by prosecutors because it was learned via a ‘tweet’ on Twitter by the New York Racing Association that Cassidy was at Saratoga Race Course while the proceedings were taking place. The article states that Schodack is located roughly 60 miles away from the racetrack.

The report states that prosecutors were upset by the news that Cassidy was in the area, but apparently unable to appear at the hearing. A new court date for the proceedings is reportedly being scheduled.

Cassidy, who was a teen heartthrob in his younger years, played Keith Partridge on the television show ‘The Partridge Family.’
