Charmed Life Clicks At Mohawk

After coming up just a bit short as the favourite last week at Mohawk Racetrack, trotting mare Charmed Life returned to the Campbellville, Ont. oval and redeemed herself with a facile score in the Monday evening feature.

In rein to Louis Philippe Roy this time around, Charmed Life got away fifth and held that position while Whiskey Tax and race favourite Tony Soprano took turns on the lead through panels of :28.1 and :56.1. Tony Soprano was still in charge at the three-quarter pole in 1:24.3, but Charmed Life was first-over and applying big time pressure on the leader. Charmed Life kicked home in :28.2 en route to winning by 1-1/4 lengths over Tony Soprano in 1:53. O Narutac Perfetto came on strong to finish third.

Trainer Rene Allard’s Allard Racing Inc shares ownership on the seven-year-old daughter of Majestic Son-Christina M with Yves Sarrazin and VIP Internet Stable LLC. It was the fifth win of the season – and the 27th to date – for the career winner of $1,332,291.
