A regimental funeral for fallen Fredericton police officers Cst. Sara Burns and Cst. Robb Costello will feature Burns' Standardbred pacer Grimsby as the regimental horse in the procession.

Grimsby will be following the casket of Burns and leading the Fredericton Police.

Burns, a part-owner of Grimsby since 2014, and Costello were killed in the line of duty last Friday in Fredericton. The investigation into the shootings last Friday that also claimed the lives of civilians Donnie Robichaud and Bobbie Lee Wright is still ongoing.

Sara is survived by her husband Steven, sons Duncan, Malcolm and Anderson, Mother Marjorie Pirie, Father David Pirie, brother Rory, sister Emma and niece Skye, her special daughter in spirit Destiny Davidson, mother and father in law Joyce Burns and Tracy Burns, her beloved puppies, Murphy and Coco, her horse, Grimsby as well as her extended family.

The regimental funeral for Burns and Costello will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at the Aitken University Centre. The funeral will be preceded by a parade of Fredericton Police Force members in uniform, joined by several other police agencies, RCMP members, and first responders.

Due to space limitations, the regimental funeral is for invited family, dignitaries, members of law enforcement and first responders as thousands of emergency responders from across North America are expected to attend.

Public gatherings to view the funeral will be held at the Grant-Harvey Centre, 600 Knowledge Park Drive (doors open at 11:00 a.m.) and the Hope City Church (formerly Sunset Church, doors open at 11:00 a.m.), 429 Clements Drive. The funeral will be broadcast live on national media.

Public visitation for Sara Burns and Robb Costello has been scheduled for Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., in the ballroom of the Fredericton Convention Centre.
