Bound For Fame Strikes Late In Open Trot

A first-over bid into a fast pace would be enough for Bound For Fame in Friday (August 14) evening's $14,000 Open Trot at Tioga Downs, as he was able to overpower his five rivals for a 1:54.3 victory.

Corey Braden settled the eight-year-old S Js Photo gelding just off the pace, drafting from mid-field through a :56.2 middle half before making his move out of fourth on the backstretch. As pacesetter Jailhouse Jessica (Jim Marohn Jr.) opened up on the backstretch, Bound For Fame wore down odds-on favourite Spice It Up Lindy (Mike Simons), ultimately working clear in the final sixteenth. Bound For Fame expanded his lead to one and a quarter lengths, prevailing easily in 1:54.3 over Jailhouse Jessica. Six Bax (Jim Taggart Jr.) rallied through traffic from the back of the pack to save third.
