Shezallapples A patiently rode the pocket and rallied up the inside for a 14-1 upset in the featured $11,600 distaff pace on Wednesday afternoon (Aug. 12) at Harrah's Philadelphia.

After joint favourites Eclipse Me N and Apple Bottom Jeans engaged in a cutthroat duel on the far turn, Eclipse Me N bore out a bit in mid-stretch, giving room for Shezallapples A to rally from the pocket and win by a half length in 1:50.4. Eclipse Me N held second, with Apple Bottom Jeans another neck back in third.

Shezallapples A, who was driven to victory by Montrell Teague, has now won just over a quarter of her lifetime starts and has earnings of $270,319. Chuck Crissman Jr. trains the Sportswriter mare for owner Bret Sliwka.

George Napolitano Jr. drove six winners during the Wednesday card, stretching his lead in the local standings over Tim Tetrick to 68-55. Two of Napolitano’s winners were for trainer Gilbert Garcia-Owen, who is now just one behind Ron Burke, 27-26.
