'Dr J' Jets To Preferred Win

World-champion Dr J Hanover wired his competition in the $34,000 Preferred Pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday, Aug. 11, winning in 1:50.

Taking the front from Te Kawau N leaving at the rail, Dr J Hanover paced to the quarter in :26.3 as Fine Diamond parked first over from third. Fine Diamond slid into the pocket moving to the half while Dr J Hanover paced past in :54.3.

Dr J Hanover drew away from Fine Diamond chasing in the pocket heading to three-quarters while Physicallyinclined, from sixth, gained ground first over to take second rounding into the stretch. Holding a three-length lead by three-quarters in 1:22.1, Dr J Hanover strolled through the stretch as Physicallyinclined narrowed his margin from second with Always A Hotshot rushing three wide from second over to take third.

A five-year-old gelding by Somebeachsomewhere from the Western Ideal mare So Perfect, Dr J Hanover, owned by Brad Grant, Robert Leblanc, Steven wienick and Irwin Samelman, won his fifth race in 13 starts and his 18th in 55 overall, earning $677,416. Trained by Tony Alagna and driven by Sylvain Filion, he paid $7.10 to win.
