Walter Cheverie sent Oceanview Pancho down the road Thursday evening in a $1,350 conditioned trot at the Charlottetown Driving Park, and the colt powered his way into the track’s record book.

Oceanview Pancho, a three-year-old son of Neal-Rose Run Frances, pushed out fast from Post 1 and supplied the field with fractions of :29.2, :59.1 and 1:30.2 before cruising home in :30.2 en route to the win by 2-1/4 lengths over Tyne Valley in 2:00.4. Dusty Lane Jacob was third in the record-setting performance.

The effort chopped a full second off the former mark of 2:01.4 set by Latorraca on June 16, 2011.

Trainer Paul Larrabee shares ownership on the homebred with breeder William Roloson of Belfast, PE. It was the second win of the season – and the third to date – for the lightly-raced trotter.
