Nova Scotia-based fillies came to play in Atlantic Sires Stakes action on Wednesday evening (July 8) at Red Shores at Summerside Raceway as Governor’s Plate Week racing continued.

Two $12,620 Atlantic Sires Stakes 'A' events for two-year-old pacing fillies served as the main events of the program.

Aspoonfulofsugar was much the best in her split, opening up at every call to cruise to an eight-length victory in 2:02.4 over a sloppy track. Dale Spence steered the daughter of Rollwithitharry for trainer Joe Baxter and owners Jennifer Baxter, Sean Baxter, Trish Hardy and Matthew Williams of Newport Station. Woodmere Stella (Earl Smith) finished second, while Elm Grove Prerush (Clare MacDonald) was third.

Cape Breton rookie JJ Talisa took top prize in the other 'A' division to give first-crop sire Hilarious Halo his first stakes winner. JJ Talisa got up in the final strides off a pocket ride in 2:02.4 for driver Redmond Doucet, co-owner and trainer Robert MacLeod, and co-owner Maria MacLeod. Favourite The Real McCoy (Marc Campbell) cut out the mile to finish second, with Terrormasue (MacDonald) completing the triactor ticket.

Reademandweep was a 2:04.4 winner in her $2,500 Sires Stakes 'B' division for trainer-driver Jason Hughes. The other 'B' division was part of a four-win performance by Campbell, as he steered Maggiesdelight to a 2:06.1 maiden score for trainer Michelle Myers.

Campbell also won with Mayhem Man in 1:59.3 for Jay Noye, and scored a pair of wins from his Charlottetown stable aboard Messier Seelster in 1:57.3 and Power Of A Cruiser in 2:00.1.
